SPRING INTO FLOWERS & CHECKMATE!

sTudio 7 & sTudio 6
May 2 – May 27, 2012

RAA continues its 2012 exhibition season with two showcases, Spring Into Flowers and Checkmate. Running from Saturday May 5 to Sunday May 27, these two shows combine to bring new perspective to their individual themes.

Exhibits will be on public view in RAA’s T-6 and T-7 Galleries at Fort Tilden in the Rockaways. The shows’ runs will be highlighted by a number of special events.

On Sunday, May 20 at 1:00 p.m. local historian and noted speaker Bernie Feuer will bring to life “Guns of Fort Tilden.”

Spring Into Flowers brings to life a world of flowers, both light and dark, in all their many forms. The galleries are in bloom with varied images and points of view!

Artists participating in Checkmate draw viewers into the world of drama, symmetry surprises, majesty, maneuvers, strategy, style, substance and subtlety of chess. A chess tournament will be ongoing in sTudio 6 during gallery hours through May 27. All chess players are welcome to partake and prizes will be awarded to winners.

Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday 12-4 p.m. and by appointment.

Rockaway Artists Alliance invites all to enjoy these two unique exhibitions!

RAA works in partnership with the National Park Service at Gateway National Recreation Area. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council.
