camp kidsmART is the only day camp in New York City located in a seaside National Park. camp kidsmART’s home in Fort Tilden includes a beautiful beach, nature trails, education center, athletic fields, art galleries, historic landmarks, a community garden, and more.

 

Campers spend their days participating in a wide range of activities facilitated by Senior Counselors who are seasoned professionals and specialists in their fields. Under their kind instruction children:

 

• Paint at easels using acrylics and watercolors

• Create clay sculptures

• Write, direct and act in films

• Rehearse song and dance numbers for the annual camp show

• Make multi-media art projects

• Craft wearable jewelry

• Play soccer, floorball, kickball, field hockey and a wide variety of organized, active games

• Take amazing digital photos and learn the ins and outs of the camera

• Plant and harvest flowers and edibles from the kidsmART Garden

• Experiment in the science lab

• Report on camp news as a member of the kidsmART Press

• Play fun and engaging board and table games

• Take nature walks on the park’s beautiful trails and enjoy vistas of the bay, ocean and New York City from the top of Battery Harris

 

In addition to all of the daily fun, camp kidsmART’s Event Coordinator and his team always have exciting special events planned for campers. These memorable activities include:

 

• A camp wide scavenger hunt

• An entertaining theme for the entire camp season

• A carnival

• Sprinkler and water play activities

• Costume days

• Impromptu performances

• Minute-To-Win-It contests

• A dance party

• Camper-counselor challenges

 

Each season includes a performance by campers for their families and friends on the kidsmART stage and a gallery-quality art show of work completed by the children. These events occur in the evening so everyone can come!
