Who are the Counselors?

 

camp kidsmART counselors and directors are educators and artists who have been thoroughly vetted by RAA. Most staff members are returning to camp and have been with RAA and camp kidsmART for several years. Every staff member receives a background check that includes review on the NYS Sex Offender Registry: and/or fingerprinting by either the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene or the NYC Department of Education; NYS State Central Register Database check; TB and full medical check; references check. The required number of staff members are also trained in CPR and First Aid.

 

Junior Counselors (age 16-19) are also vetted and checked on the NYS Sex Offender Registry and have references checked. Those who work at RAA’s after-school program as well have been fingerprinted, too.

 

Groups of campers number 10-12. Each group has one Senior Counselor and two Junior Counselors. There are also four directors on-site including a NYS Certified Teacher and a Licensed Social Worker.
